29km MIRADOR WALK FOR MAKE A SMILE
WE DID IT!!!!
“Girl Power” Team raises €3,100
to help “Make a Smile”
These brave ladies from Javea’s Original Charity Shop hiked a very strenuous 29 km from Mirador la Grandella to the Mirador los Molinos, passing through all 15 of Javea’s Miradors. The team set out hoping to raise €2,000 for the “Make a Smile” charity which supports the Emaus children’s homes. Along the Arenal the girls were cheered on by lots of shop staff and President Georgie Harvey and Treasurer Sylvia Jackson took great pleasure in presenting them with a cheque for €1,000. The team was also sponsored by shop staff, friends and family whose extremely generous contributions brought the total up to the fantastic amount of €3,100! Thank you everyone; raising such a fabulous amount made the effort well worth it.
Some of the money will be invested in the Relleu Self Sufficiency Project and the Arts and Crafts Unit which provides occupational therapy for 24 mentally challenged youngsters. The farm near Relleu holds regular open days where you can visit the Self Sufficiency Project and enjoy a delicious lunch. Veggie boxes, eggs and olive oil are also on sale and you can even sponsor an olive tree. All these activities help with the running costs of the home.
